Getting started with candle making?
I was wanting to start making candles and maybe selling some. So what all do I need to start this, how difficult is it to make the pillar candles, and how much should I charge for them. Will a candy thermometer work, that might sound kind of silly, but I don’t know.

To answer your Question in order asked :
1. What you will need to start candle making?
Answer:
a. a big box of candle wax or beeswax, depending on what type of candle your making.
b. A double boiler with water to boil to melt your wax down
c. A candy or wax thermometer to measure you wax temperature. Some waxes have to have a specific temperature in order to mix; scenting and coloring agents
d. Candle molds,metal containers,glass jars…etc
e. scenting agent if desired
f. Wax coloring agent
e. Metal tongs or a good old potholder to move your mold
f. Some wax carving tools and some small extra wax piece; in case you have to make some repairs on your candle
g. Someplace to put it to cool down
2. How difficult is it to make the pillar candles?
Answer:
Not difficult at all; if you follow the manufacture’s directions and follow all the set up & safety rules for doing it .
3. How much should I charge for them?
Answer :
That will depend on you ;the cost of the material and the complexitly of the candle being made, and what people can pay for it.
4) Will a candy thermometer work,? That might sound kind of silly, but I don’t know?
Answer
yes, but a wax theromometer works better.
